Super Bore ... err ... Bowl Sunday
02.07.05 (7:30 am)   [edit]

As expected, new england wins and the casinos clean up. A quote from todays Reno Gazette Urinal, I mean Journal - The Reno Gazette Journal:

More than $80 million is bet in Nevada annually on the Super Bowl.

“This year’s (betting) business has been at least as big as last year’s, if not bigger,” said Donald A. Bourcier, assistant manager at the Hilton Race and Sports Book, though the counting had not been done. “The people love football, they love the Super Bowl, regardless of who is playing. It’s tradition. The big money started coming in on the Patriots, and continued and continued, up until today.”

Since most bets are placed against the so-called point spread, which was -7 for new england, the casinos made tons of money from all that "big money" wagered on the new england weenies. Somehow the racebooks and casinos always make the big bucks on sport betting. Maybe enough to influence the outcome of games?
