I love the Amazon web site. It's a great place to browse new releases in music, books, and movies. Their "Look Inside" feature for books is wonderful.

This last weekend I was searching Amazon for a couple of items and noticed a new message at the top for the screen. It seems they are now offering a new subscription shipping service. For "only" $79.00 per year they will give you unlimited free two-day shipping on more than 1 million items. You also can opt for overnight shipping for $3.99 and share your subscription with four family members.

The goal of this new program is to get people like me to shop more often at Amazon. Good idea, but since they already offer free "super saver" shipping on orders of $25.00 or more I wonder how many customers will go for this new deal. While the super saver shipping is a little slow, anywhere from five to ten days, I use it on every order. I can't imagine paying $75.00 per year just to get my stuff in two days. Maybe I'm just a cheapskate!
